Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 7 mL plain red. (Min: 3 mL) Also acceptable: lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), or gray (sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate).

Transport: 2 mL serum or plasma at 2-8°C.  (Min: 0.3 mL)  Sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate whole blood may be transported in the original container.

Remarks: Separate serum from cells within two hours of collection and transfer to a tightly-capped tube to minimize alcohol loss. For medical purposes only. Do not freeze whole blood.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 1 week, if tightly capped; Refrigerated: 2 weeks, if tightly capped; Frozen: 1 month, except whole blood
