Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 10 mL yellow (ACD Solution A), one 7 mL green (sodium or lithium heparin), or one 5 mL lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2EDTA).

Transport: 3 mL whole blood at 2-8°C. (Min: 1.5 mL)

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 1.5 mL whole blood at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.25 mL)

Remarks: Enzyme most stable in acid citrate dextrose (ACD). Do not freeze.

Stability: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: Unacceptable

Reference Interval:
7.0-20.5 U/g Hb

Note:
Patients who have recently received transfusions have normal donor cells that may mask G-6-PD deficient erythrocytes.
