Specimen Required: Collect:  One 4 mL serum separator tube or plasma separator tube. Also acceptable: green (sodium or lithium heparin).

Transport:  1 mL serum or plasma, frozen. (Min: 0.5 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport:  0.3 mL serum or plasma, frozen.

Remarks:  Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature before centrifuging.

Unacceptable Conditions:  EDTA plasma.

Stability:  After separation from cells: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 2 days; Frozen: 3 months
