| Specimen Required: |
#ExistCollect>Collect: Actively growing organism, in pure culture, on agar slant or on a swab in bacterial transport media. Source of specimen is required.
*ExistCollect>
#ExistSPECTRANSPORT>Storage/Transport Temperature: Sealed container at 20-25°C.
Submit specimen according to Infectious Substance, Category A, shipping guidelines.
*ExistSPECTRANSPORT>
#ExistRemarks>Remarks: Indicate source of organism and any other pertinent information, including a warning if organism is suspected to be a dangerous pathogen (Salmonella, Shigella, Neisseria meningitidis, etc.). For suspected agents of bioterrorism, notify your state department of health and refer isolates to your state laboratory for identification. Susceptibilities on agents of bioterrorism are not performed at ARUP. The selection and extent of tests used for identification vary according to the specimen source, and the type of organism suspected. The susceptibility method and antibiotic panel will be selected based on organism identification. (Refer to Antimicrobial Susceptibility) Susceptibility testing will not be performed if inappropriate for source and/or organism.
