Specimen Required:  
Collect: Actively growing isolated organism, in pure culture, on agar slant or in bacterial transport media. Organism identification must be provided.

Transport: Organism in pure culture in a sealed container at 20-25°C.

Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.

Pediatric Collection/Transport:

Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.

Unacceptable Conditions: Mixed cultures or nonviable organisms.

Stability: Ambient: 1 week; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: Unacceptable

Reference Interval:
Susceptible, intermediate, or resistant.
Units = µg/mL

Note:
Aerobic susceptibility testing is organism dependent.  Various methods are used and various agents are reported.  Specific antibiotics to be tested should be indicated on the test request form in order to ensure their inclusion in the panel.

An additional handling fee will be billed for all organisms submitted that are not in pure culture as indicated in the specimen requirements.
