Specimen Required:  
Collect: Nocardia isolate in pure culture on an agar slant. Indicate isolate identification and specimen source.

Transport: Organism in pure culture in a sealed container at 20-25°C.

Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.

Pediatric Collection/Transport:

Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.

Unacceptable Conditions: Mixed cultures, leaking containers, or nonviable organisms.

Stability: Ambient: 1 month; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: Unacceptable

Reference Interval:
Susceptible, intermediate, or resistant.

Interpretive Data:
Susceptibility testing is performed by CLSI approved broth microdilution method.

Note:
An additional handling fee will be billed for all organisms submitted that are not in pure culture as indicated in the specimen requirements.

The following agents will be tested: amikacin, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, ciprofloxacin, ceftriaxone, clarithromycin, gatifloxacin, imipenem, linezolid, minocycline, tobramycin, and trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole. Selective reporting by source.
