Specimen Required:  
Collect: Pure isolate of Staphylococcus species or beta-hemolytic Streptococcus species.

Transport: Organism in pure culture in a sealed container at 20-25°C.

Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.

Pediatric Collection/Transport:

Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.

Stability: Ambient: 1 week; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: Unacceptable

Interpretive Data:
D-Test Positive: This isolate is presumed to be resistant to clindamycin based on the detection of inducible clindamycin resistance.  Clindamycin may still be effective in some patients.

D-Test Negative: This isolate does not demonstrate inducible clindamycin resistance in vitro.
