Collect: One 4 mL SST.
Transport: 0.5 mL serum at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.5 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines. Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.1 mL serum at 2-8°C. Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines. Remarks: EDTA, heparin or citrated plasma is also acceptable. Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP. Unacceptable Conditions: Hemolyzed specimens. Specimens containing particulate material. Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: Up to 1 week is acceptable but not preferred; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: Indefinitely (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles) |
