Specimen Required:  
Collect: CSF and one 4 mL SST.

Transport: 1 mL CSF and 1 mL serum at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.5 mL CSF and 0.5 mL serum) Submit specimens in ARUP Standard Transport Tubes.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.3 mL CSF and 0.3 mL serum at 2-8°C.

Remarks: Separate serum from cells ASAP. Centrifuge and separate to remove cellular material.

Unacceptable Conditions: Grossly bloody or hemolyzed specimens.

Stability: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 8 days; Frozen: 1 year (if frozen within 24 hours)
