Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 4 mL SST. Also acceptable: lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), or green (sodium or lithium heparin).

Transport: 0.5 mL serum or plasma at 2-8°C.  (Min: 0.3 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.2 mL serum or plasma at 2-8°C.

Remarks: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature before centrifuging.  Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP.

Unacceptable Conditions: Hemolyzed specimens.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 3 days; Frozen: 6 months
