Specimen Required: Collect: Serum separator tube. Also acceptable: Plasma separator tube, green (lithium heparin), lavender (EDTA), or pink (K2EDTA).

Specimen Preparation: Allow serum tube to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.3 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions: Hemolyzed specimens.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: 11 days; Refrigerated: 2 months; Frozen: 3 years (if frozen within 24 hours)
