Specimen Required: Collect:  One 4 mL serum separator tube.

Transport:  1 mL serum, frozen. (Min: 0.5 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport:  0.15 mL serum, frozen.

Remarks:  CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.  Allow specimen to clot for one hour at room temperature. Separate serum from cells ASAP and freeze. Plasma is not recommended.

Unacceptable Conditions:  Specimens left to clot at 2-8°C or subjected to repeated freeze/thaw cycles.  Nonfrozen specimens.

Stability:  After separation from cells: Ambient: 2 hours; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: 2 weeks
