0050119: Lupus Comprehensive Reflexive Panel

Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 10 mL SST.

Transport: 4 mL serum, frozen.  (Min: 2 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 1.5 mL serum, frozen.

Remarks: Allow specimen to clot for 30 to 60 minutes at 20-25°C.  Separate serum from cells ASAP and freeze. 

Unacceptable Conditions: Plasma.  Severely lipemic, contaminated or hemolyzed specimens.  Specimens left to clot at 2-8°C.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient 1 hour; Refrigerated: 24 hours, Frozen: 2 weeks

Note:
Initial testing includes RF, C3, C4, and ANA. Specimens are screened for ANA using ELISA. If antibodies are detected, then an IFA titer will be added. If confirmed by IFA, then specimen will be tested for dsDNA antibody, TPO, Scl-70, and ENA (RNP, Smith, SSA, and SSB) antibodies.
