Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 7 mL SST or one 5 mL green (sodium or lithium heparin).

Transport: 1 mL serum or plasma, frozen.  (Min: 0.5 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.5 mL serum or plasma, frozen. 

Remarks: Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP.  Analyte deterioration may occur in specimens that are repeatedly frozen and thawed. 

Unacceptable Conditions: Specimens collected in containers other than specified above.  EDTA specimens.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 3 days; Frozen: 1 year

0-74 years: 124 pg/mL or less 
75 years and older: 449 pg/mL or less
