Transport:  1 mL CSF, frozen. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Pediatric Collection/Transport:  1 mL CSF, frozen. (Min: 0.2 mL)

Remarks:  Specimens should be collected prior to the intrathecal administration of contrast media.  Centrifuge and remove supernatant within 4 hours of collection.  Refrigerate at 2-8°C if specimen will not be analyzed within 4 hours.  Freeze at or below -18°C if testing will be delayed 48 hours.

Unacceptable Conditions:  Hemolyzed specimens and those containing intrathecal contrast media.

Stability:  Ambient: 4 hours; Refrigerated: 3 days; Frozen: 6 months
