Wildcards Symbol (*)

The wildcard symbol (*) can be used in place of letters or characters in query words to search for different permutations of a word.

*	Can be in any position in the term and matches any number of characters.
Examples:	hemo*	matches hemolytic, hemophilia and hemophilia
	*NA	matches DNA and RNA
	*tet**	matches text and test
	BCL*	matches bcl-1/JH and bcl-2/JH
	virus*	matches virus or viruses
	*glucan*	matches beta-1,3-d-Glucan

Boolean Parameters

Search terms can be a single word or several words. The search engine automatically inserts and between words if nothing else is specified, so the Boolean term and can be omitted in search terms. For example, searching for tissue assay is the same as searching for tissue AND assay.

Quotes can be used to search for phrases. For example:

"tissue assay "

Words must be present in the specified order with no intervening words

Specimen Required:	Patient Prep: Refer to individual components. Collect: One 6 mL serum separator tube. Storage/Transport Temperature: 3 mL serum at 2-8°C. (Min: 2 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. Remarks: Potassium EDTA plasma is also acceptable. Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP. Unacceptable Conditions: Specimens containing particulate material. Severely hemolyzed or lipemic specimens. Heat-inactivated specimens. Heparinized plasma. Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: Indefinitely (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)

ARUP intends use of this panel for clinical diagnosis. This panel of assays should not be used for blood donor screening, associated re-entry protocols, or for screening Human Cell, Tissues and Cellular and Tissue-Based Products (HCT/P).

Note:

Order this panel when the patient is known to have chronic hepatitis B infection. This panel determines the degree of infection and monitors the development of immunity. If results for HBsAg are repeatedly reactive with an index value between 1.00 and 50.00, then HBsAg Confirmation will be performed.
