Wildcards Symbol (*)

The wildcard symbol (*) can be used in place of letters or characters in query words to search for different permutations of a word.

*	Can be in any position in the term and matches any number of characters.

Boolean Parameters

Search terms can be a single word or several words. The search engine automatically inserts and between words if nothing else is specified, so the Boolean term and can be omitted in search terms. For example, searching for tissue assay is the same as searching for tissue AND assay.

Quotes can be used to search for phrases. For example:

Specimen Required:	Collect: One 4 mL serum separator tube. Storage/Transport Temperature: 2 mL serum at 2-8°C. (Min: 1 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines. Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines. Remarks: Potassium EDTA plasma is also acceptable. Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP. Unacceptable Conditions: Specimens containing particulate material. Severely hemolyzed or lipemic specimens. Heat-inactivated specimens. Heparinized plasma. Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated:1 week; Frozen: Indefinitely (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)

ARUP intends use of this assay for clinical diagnosis. This assay should not be used for blood donor screening, associated re-entry protocols, or for screening Human Cell, Tissues and Cellular and Tissue-Based Products (HCT/P).

*Performed and Reported times indicated are for screening of the HBsAg. If results for HBsAg screen are repeatedly reactive with an index value between 1.00 and 50.00, then HBsAg Confirmation will be performed.
