| Specimen Required: |
Patient Prep: Tourniquet application should be minimal.
Collect: Plasma separator tube or serum separator tube.e.
Specimen Preparation: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum or plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.2 mL)
Storage/Transport Temperature: Frozen.
Unacceptable Conditions: Body Fluid (refer to Total Protein, Body Fluid, ARUP test code 0020502). Urine (refer to Total Protein, Urine, ARUP test code 0020479).
Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: 4 hours; Refrigerated: 1 month; Frozen: 6 months
