Specimen Required: Collect:  One 4 mL plasma separator tube or serum separator tube.

Transport:  1 mL plasma or serum at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.2 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport:  0.2 mL plasma or serum at 2-8°C.

Remarks:  Allow serum to clot completely at room temperature.  Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP.

Unacceptable Conditions:  Specimens collected in potassium oxalate, sodium fluoride, or sodium citrate.

Stability:  After separation from cells: Ambient: 4 days; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 6 months
