Miscellaneous Order FAQs

What is the difference between a Miscellaneous Interface order and a Miscellaneous Referral order?

  • The Miscellaneous Interface order is used to request testing performed at ARUP. These test codes are:
    • 0097163 (Miscellaneous Test #1)
    • 0098556 (Miscellaneous Test #2)
    • 0098559 (Miscellaneous Test #3)
    • 0098568 (Miscellaneous Test #4)
  • The Miscellaneous Referral order is used to request testing that ARUP refers out to another laboratory. These test codes are:
    • 0097101 (Misc Test, Ambient)
    • 0097102 (Misc Test Refrigerated)
    • 0097103 (Misc Test, Frozen)

To use a Miscellaneous Interface order:

Provide the ARUP test code in order comments.

Note:

  • Only one test may be requested per each Miscellaneous Interface order.
  • If the ARUP test code is not provided, ARUP will place the order on Except and contact the client to confirm the requested testing.
  • Use of a Miscellaneous Interface order to request allergen testing, reflex testing, microbiology testing, or anatomic pathology testing is not recommended.

To use a Miscellaneous Referral order:

Provide the test name OR test code AND the performing laboratory for all requested tests.

  • Any number of referral tests may be requested under a single order.
  • Note: If any of this information is not provided, ARUP will place the order on Except and contact the client to confirm the requested testing.

What if multiple tests are requested under a Miscellaneous Interface order?

  • ARUP will order and perform all requested testing.
  • Not all test results will be transmitted back to the client’s interface.
  • The client will need to log in to Connect to access all test results.

What if an ARUP in-house test is requested under a Miscellaneous Referral order?

  • ARUP will order and perform the requested testing.
  • No test results will be transmitted back to the client’s interface.
  • The client will need to log in to Connect to access all test results.
