When handing specimens from patients with suspected high-consequence infectious diseases (HCIDs), such as Ebola Bundibugyo virus and Andes hantavirus, following accurate and up-to-date industry guidance is critical to patient and workforce safety.

Diagnostic Testing

  • ARUP does not offer diagnostic testing for Ebola virus or hantavirus. 
  • To facilitate efficient diagnostic testing, please work with your local health department for assistance.

Ancillary Testing

  • Do not send specimens from patients with suspected HCIDs to ARUP for ancillary testing.
  • To minimize exposure risks, please work with your local health department for assistance.
