Guidance for High-Consequence Infectious Diseases

When handing specimens from patients with suspected high-consequence infectious diseases (HCIDs), such as Ebola Bundibugyo virus and Andes hantavirus, following accurate and up-to-date industry guidance is critical to patient and workforce safety.
Diagnostic Testing
- ARUP does not offer diagnostic testing for Ebola virus or hantavirus.
- To facilitate efficient diagnostic testing, please work with your local health department for assistance.
Ancillary Testing
- Do not send specimens from patients with suspected HCIDs to ARUP for ancillary testing.
