Dr. Grenache a professor of pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He earned his PhD in biomedical sciences from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA and completed his postdoctoral training in clinical chemistry at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Grenache is a fellow in the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry and is board certified in clinical chemistry by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry. His research interests include reproductive biochemistry and emerging biomarkers of disease. He maintains a blog called The Pregnancy Lab, which is focused on the laboratory tests used to manage the pregnant patient.
ARUP Laboratories’ offers a large menu of established cancer biomarkers, including traditional ones such as CEA, CA-GI (CA 19-9) and CA 27.29. Circulating tumor cell counting is available for three clinical indications, and the MesoMark mesothelioma test is offered. ARUP now has available a blood-based colorectal cancer screening test based on the Septin 9 methylated DNA biomarker.

Vice President, Technology Assessment and Licensing Director, PharmaDx ProgramDr. Heichman is an adjunct associate professor at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Her role at ARUP as the director of the PharmaDx program involves developing and managing collaborations with pharmaceutical companies. The PharmaDx team recently received FDA approval of two companion diagnostic tests developed and validated for use with the drug Gleevec. Dr. Heichman holds an AB in genetics from UC Berkeley and a PhD in biological chemistry from the UCLA School of Medicine. She trained as a postdoctoral fellow in the field of cycle control at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.
