Collect: Pleural Fluid.

Specimen Preparation: Centrifuge specimen at room temperature. Transfer 0.3 mL fluid to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube and freeze. (Min: 0.1 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Frozen. Specimen must remain frozen until received in lab.

Remarks: Indicate source on requisition.

Unacceptable Conditions: Whole blood. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) specimens. Turbid specimens.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): Ambient: 2 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 1 month
