Specimen Required: Patient Prep: High concentrations of gadolinium and iodine are known to interfere with most metals tests. If either gadolinium or iodine containing contrast media has been administered, a specimen should not be collected for 4 days.

Collect: Random urine. Specimen must be collected in a clean plastic container.

Specimen Preparation: Transfer 2 mL random urine to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 1 week
