Specimen Required: Collect: Serum separator tube.

Specimen Preparation: Allow serum separator to sit for 15-20 minutes at room temperature for proper clot formation. Centrifuge and separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.3 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Frozen. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.

Unacceptable Conditions: Plasma. Grossly hemolyzed or lipemic specimens.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): Ambient: 24 hours; Refrigerated: 72 hours; Frozen: 1 month

Reference Interval:
Less than or equal to 1.75 IU/L
Interpretive Data: Positive results are consistent with autoimmune thyroid disease.
