Specimen Required: Collect: Lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), plasma preparation tube, or serum separator tube.

Specimen Preparation: Separate serum or plasma from cells within 4 hours.
PPT:
Transport 2 mL plasma in original container. (Min: 1.5 mL)
All others:
Transfer 2 mL serum or plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 1.5 mL)


Storage/Transport Temperature: CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.

Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.


Unacceptable Conditions: Specimens collected in ACD. Heparinized specimens. Non-frozen specimens or specimens exposed to repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): On Cells: Ambient: 4 hours. After separation from cells: Refrigerated: 48 hours; Frozen at -20°C: 72 hours; Frozen at -70°C: 4 months
