Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 7 mL plain red or SST.  Also acceptable: lavender EDTA, pink (K2EDTA), green (sodium heparin), gray (sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate), or citrate. 

Transport: 3 mL serum or plasma, frozen.  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 1.5 mL serum or plasma, frozen.

Unacceptable Conditions: Grossly hemolyzed or lipemic specimens.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 4 days; Frozen: 1 month

Reference Interval:
0.00-0.40 µmol/L
