Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 4 mL SST.

Transport: 0.5 mL serum at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.1 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.05 mL serum at 2-8°C.

Unacceptable Conditions: Heat inactivated, lipemic, hemolytic, icteric, turbid, or bacterially contaminated specimens.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 2 days; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year

Reference Interval:
Less than 0.2 OD - Negative: No significant level of IgG antibody to Schistosoma detected.
Greater than or equal to 0.2 OD - Positive: Presumptive evidence of a current or past infection with Schistosoma.
