Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 4 mL plain red or SST.  (Min: 1.5 mL)   Also acceptable: lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2 EDTA).

Transport: 2.5 mL serum, or plasma, frozen.  Submit specimen in an ARUP Amber Transport Tube.  Protect from light during collection, storage, and shipment.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.6 mL serum or plasma (EDTA), frozen.  Protect from light during collection, storage, and shipment.

Remarks: Draw specimen following an overnight (12-hour) fast.  Patient should not consume alcohol for one day prior to blood draw.  Avoid hemolysis.  Protect from light during collection, storage, and shipment.  Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 1 month; Frozen: 6 months
