Specimen Required: Collect:  One 5 mL serum separator tube or plain red.

Transport:  1 mL serum at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.25 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport:  0.15 mL serum at 2-8°C.

Remarks:  Separate serum from cells ASAP. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Unacceptable Conditions:  Lipemic, contaminated, or turbid specimens.

Stability:  After separation form cells: Ambient: 2 days; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year
Reference Interval:
0.00-10.00 U/mL: Negative - No significant level of Aspergillus IgG antibody detected.
10.01-12.00 U/mL: Equivocal - Questionable presence of Aspergillus IgG antibodies.
12.01 U/mL or greater: Positive - The presence of Aspergillus antibodies is a good indicator of host response to infection but results must always be evaluated in light of other clinical information on each patient.
