Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 10 mL green (sodium heparin).

Transport: 10 mL whole blood at 20-25°C. (Min: 5 mL)

Unacceptable Conditions: Frozen or clotted specimens.

Stability: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: Unacceptable

Reference Interval:
Normal male: 46, XY or constitutional male karyotype
Normal female: 46, XX or constitutional female karyotype

Note:
These studies involve culturing of living cells; therefore, turnaround times given represent average times which are subject to multiple variables. Hard copy reports are generated following completion of a case.  After specimen receipt, results are generally available in an average 10 days. A detailed report and copy of a representative karyotype will follow.

A processing fee will be charged if this procedure is canceled at the client's request, after the test has been set up, or if the sample integrity is inadequate to allow culture growth.
