Specimen Required:  
Collect: 30 mL amniotic fluid.

Transport: 30 mL amniotic fluid in sterile centrifuge tubes at 20-25°C. (Min: 20 mL)

Unacceptable Conditions: Frozen specimens.

Stability: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: Unacceptable

Note:
These studies involve culturing of living cells; therefore, turnaround times given represent average times which are subject to multiple variables. Hard copy reports are generated following completion of a case.  Results are generally available in an average of 12 days after receipt of a specimen. A detailed report and a copy of a representative karyotype will follow.

A processing fee will be charged if this procedure is canceled at the client's request, after the test has been set up, or if the sample integrity is inadequate to allow culture growth.
