Specimen Preparation: Transfer 0.5 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.1 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions: Specimens collected with anticoagulants or preservatives. Hemolyzed or lipemic specimens. Specimens with large clots or bacterial growth present.

Interpretive Data: Western blot assay for HSP70 (68 kDa), IgG antibody may be utilized in predicting corticosteroid responsiveness in patients with idiopathic rapidly progressive sensorineural hearing loss. Indeterminate results should be repeated using a fresh specimen collected after 10-14 days. Other autoimmune diseases may also produce positive results.
