Estrone, by Tandem Mass Spectrometry : 0093249

Mnemonic: ESTRNE TMS

Ordering Recommendation: Rarely indicated. If serum estrone measurement is needed, preferred test is Estrogens, Fractionated by Tandem Mass Spectrometry (0093248).
Methodology: Quantitative High Performance Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry
Performed: Sun-Sat
Reported: 1-4 days
Specimen Required: Collect: Serum separator tube, lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), or green (sodium or lithium heparin).

Specimen Preparation: Separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 0.5 mL serum or plasma an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min 0.3 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 1 month
