Reported: 1-3 days
Specimen Required: Collect: Green (sodium heparin). Also acceptable: Lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2EDTA).

Specimen Preparation: Transport 5 mL whole blood.

Storage/Transport Temperature: Room temperature. Also acceptable: Refrigerated. Specimen should be received within 24 hours of collection for optimal viable testing.

Remarks: Prior diagnosis of CLL is required. Provide CBC results and Wright's stained smear.

Unacceptable Conditions: Frozen specimens. Clotted or hemolyzed specimens. Specimens greater than 48 hours old.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): Ambient: 24 hours; Refrigerated: 48 hours; Frozen: Unacceptable

Interpretive Data: ZAP-70 results should not be used for diagnostic purposes, but may help in the clinical management of patients with established diagnoses of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Results of this test should always be correlated with morphologic and clinical information.
