Specimen Required: Collect: Random urine.

Storage/Transport Temperature: 10 mL urine at 20-25°C. (Min: 2.0 mL)

Remarks: Newborn minimum requires 1 mL for the initial test and 1 mL for the confirmation of screen positive. Indicate NEWBORN prominently on the test request form.

Unacceptable Conditions: Samples exposed to repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): Ambient: 1 week; Refrigerated: 1 month; Frozen: 3 years
Interpretive Data: For medical purposes only; not valid for forensic use.

Positive cutoff 40 mg/dL, screen and confirmation. 
Note: If screen is positive, then confirmation by gas chromatography/flame ionization detection will be added.
