Specimen Required: Patient Prep: First morning catch of urine, if possible.

Collect: Plain red AND fresh random urine.

Specimen Preparation: Transfer 6 mL serum to ARUP Standard Transport Tubes (Min: 5.5 mL) AND transport 25 mL urine. (Min: 12 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): Serum: After separation from cells: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 2 months
Urine: Ambient: 5 days; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen 2 months
Interpretive Data: The following drugs or drug classes may be detected in this analysis:

SERUM: Acetaminophen, alcohols, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, carbamazepine, carisoprodol, disopyramide, meprobamate,  phenytoin, primidone, salicylate, theophylline, tricyclic and other antidepressants.

URINE: Acetaminophen, alcohols, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, carbamazepine, carisoprodol, chlorpheniramine, cocaine & metabolites, diphenhydramine, ethchlorvynol, ibuprofen, lidocaine, meprobamate, narcotics & synthetics, phencyclidine, phenothiazines, phenytoin, primidone & metabolites, pyrilamine, salicylate,  sympathomimetic amines, theophylline, tricyclic and other antidepressants, trimethoprim.
