Specimen Preparation: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.5 mL)
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.
Unacceptable Conditions: Specimens collected in separator tubes or fluoride. Specimens exposed to repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 5 days; Frozen: 1 month

A test cutoff value of 50 ng/mL is used to discern positive from negative results. Because this is a screening test, positive findings are considered unconfirmed.
