Specimen Required: Collect: Plain red. Also acceptable: Lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), green (sodium heparin), gray (sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate). Avoid use of separator tubes and gels.

Specimen Preparation: Transfer 2 mL serum or plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions: Gel separator tubes left at room temperature for more than 2 hours or refrigerated for more than 30 minutes.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: 5 days; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 6 months
