Wildcards Symbol (*)

The wildcard symbol (*) can be used in place of letters or characters in query words to search for different permutations of a word.

*	Can be in any position in the term and matches any number of characters.
Examples:	hemo*	matches hemolytic, hemophilia and hemophilia
	*NA	matches DNA and RNA
	*tet**	matches text and test

Boolean Parameters

Search terms can be a single word or several words. The search engine automatically inserts and between words if nothing else is specified, so the Boolean term and can be omitted in search terms. For example, searching for tissue assay is the same as searching for tissue AND assay.

Quotes can be used to search for phrases. For example:

"tissue assay "

Words must be present in the specified order with no intervening words

Reported:	1-4 days
Specimen Required:	Collect: One 5 mL lavender (EDTA) or pink (K₂ EDTA). Storage/Transport Temperature: 1 mL plasma, frozen. Submit specimen in an ARUP Amber Transport Tube. (Min: 0.2 mL) Remarks: CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. Protect from light during collection, storage, and shipment. Separate plasma from cells and freeze ASAP. Unacceptable Conditions: Nonfrozen specimens. Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 4 hours; Frozen: 2 months

Reference Interval: 5.0-30.0 ng/mL
Note:	This assay does not distinguish between pyridoxine, pyridoxamine, and pyridoxal forms of the vitamin, and does not detect pyridoxic acid.
