Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 5 mL lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2 EDTA).

Transport: 1 mL plasma, frozen.  Submit specimen in an ARUP Amber Transport Tube.  (Min: 0.2 mL)

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.2 mL plasma, frozen.

Remarks: CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. Protect from light during collection, storage, and shipment.  Separate plasma from cells and freeze ASAP.

Unacceptable Conditions: Nonfrozen specimens. 

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 4 hours; Frozen: 2 months

Reference Interval:
5.0-30.0 ng/mL

Note:
This assay does not distinguish between pyridoxine, pyridoxamine, and pyridoxal forms of the vitamin, and does not detect pyridoxic acid.
