Specimen Required: Collect:  24-hour urine. Urine must be refrigerated during collection.

Transport:  2 mL aliquot from a well-mixed 24-hour collection, frozen.  Will accept refrigerated specimen with preservatives. (Min: 1 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport:  1 mL aliquot from a well-mixed 24-hour collection, frozen.  Will accept refrigerated sample with preservatives.

Remarks:  Add 1 g boric acid/100 mL urine. Specimens previously preserved with HCl are acceptable for this test. Specimens without preservative are acceptable if frozen immediately after collection. Record total volume and collection time interval on transport tube and on test request form.
