Specimen Required:  
Collect: 24-hour urine. Urine must be refrigerated during collection.

Transport: 4.5 mL aliquot from a 24-hour collection, frozen. (Min: 1 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. Will accept refrigerated specimen with preservatives.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.5 mL aliquot from a 24-hour collection, frozen.

Remarks: Add 1 g boric acid/100 mL urine. Specimens preserved with HCl or acetic acid are acceptable for this test. Specimen without preservative are acceptable if frozen immediately after collection. Record total volume and collection time interval on transport tube and test request form.

Stability: Ambient: 2 hours; Refrigerated (with preservative): 1 week; Frozen: 1 month
