Specimen Required: Collect:  One 5 mL lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2EDTA).  Also acceptable: green (sodium or lithium heparin) or serum separator tube.

Storage/Transport Temperature:  2 mL plasma or serum, frozen. (Min: 0.5 mL) Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Remarks:  Allow serum specimen to clot fully at room temperature before centrifuging. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. If requesting Ionized Calcium with PTH, submit two separate specimens. Refer to Calcium, Ionized, Serum (0020135) for requirements. Do not collect in EDTA if ordering Parathyroid Hormone Intact Molecule with Calcium (0070172).

Stability (collection to initiation of testing):  After separation from cells: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 2 days; Frozen: 6 months
