Specimen Required:  
Collect: One 4 mL SST.  Also acceptable: lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), or green (sodium or lithium heparin).

Transport: 0.5 mL serum or plasma at 2-8°C. (Min: 0.3 mL)  Submit specimen in an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.

Pediatric Collection/Transport: 0.3 mL serum or plasma at 2-8°C.

Remarks: Avoid hemolysis.  Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP. Specimen collected during morning hours are preferred.

Unacceptable Conditions: Lipemic specimens.

Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 24 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 2 months

1-6 months: 0.6-5.0 ng/mL
7-11 months: 0.5-2.0 ng/mL

9-10 years: 0.9-4.8 ng/mL
11-20 years: 1.9-9.5 ng/mL
21-49 years: 1.9-7.6 ng/mL
