Collect: Nasopharyngeal aspirate, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), or throat swab. Preserve specimen in Chlamydia transport media immediately. Source of specimen is preferred.
Transport: Specimen in Chlamydia transport media at 2-8°C. Place each specimen in a separate, individually sealed bag. Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines. Pediatric Collection/Transport: Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines. Remarks: Do not freeze. Unacceptable Conditions: Samples not collected in Chlamydia culture transport media. Dry swabs, wood swabs, and calcium alginate swabs. Stability: Ambient: 1 hour; Refrigerated: 2 days; Frozen: Unacceptable |
