Specimen Required: Collect: Herpes simplex isolate from cell culture with infected cells present. Source of specimen is preferred.

Storage/Transport Temperature: Positive cell culture or acetone-fixed, two-well slide with infected cells at 2-8°C.

Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.


Remarks: Typing may not be requested directly on a sample.

Note: If typing is required on isolates recovered in client laboratories, the positive cell culture should be shipped on a two-well slide prepared from the infected cells and fixed in acetone.
