Specimen Required: Collect:  Collect: Nasopharyngeal aspirate/swab/washing, tracheal aspirate, or bronchoalveolar (BAL) lavage. Transport in viral transport media. Source of specimen is preferred.

Transport:  Specimen in sterile leak-proof container or viral transport media at 2-8°C. (Min: 1 mL) Place each specimen in a separate, individually sealed bag.

Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.


Pediatric Collection/Transport:  

Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.


Remarks:  Do not freeze. Do not send slides.

Unacceptable Conditions:  Dry swabs.
