Transport: Rectal swab or stool in enteric transport media at 2-8°C.

Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.

Pediatric Collection/Transport:

Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.

Unacceptable Conditions: Nonsterile or leaking containers, multiple specimens (more than one in 24 hours), dry specimens, delayed transport without use of appropriate preservative.

Stability: Unpreserved: Ambient: 2 hours; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: Unacceptable
Preserved: Ambient: 4 days; Refrigerated: 4 days; Frozen: Unacceptable
