Specimen Required: Collect: Bone.

Specimen Preparation: Transfer bone to a sterile container and place on gauze moistened with sterile non-bacteriostatic saline to prevent drying.

Storage/Transport Temperature: Room temperature.

Remarks: Specimen source preferred.

Unacceptable Conditions: Dry specimens.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): Ambient: 24 hours; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: Unacceptable

Reference Interval:
No growth.
Identification and susceptibility performed on positive cultures.
Note: Identification and susceptibility tests are billed separately from culture.
