| Specimen Required: |
Collect: One 5 mL lavender (EDTA) or 1 mL bone marrow (EDTA). Also acceptable: pink (K2EDTA). Specimen source is required.
Transport: 5 mL whole blood or 1 mL bone marrow at 2-8°C. A buffy coat will be performed on whole blood.
Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.
Pediatric Collection/Transport: 3 mL whole blood or 0.5 mL bone marrow. (Less volume may decrease sensitivity of assay.)
Submit specimen according to Biological Substance, Category B, shipping guidelines.
Unacceptable Conditions: Nonsterile or leaking containers. Heparinized, frozen, hemolyzed or clotted whole blood or bone marrow samples. Plasma (for plasma, refer to Cytomegalovirus by PCR (0060040)).
Stability: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 3 days; Frozen: Unacceptable
